WHAT DOES "DISCERNING THE LORD'S BODY" MEAN?

WHAT DOES "DISCERNING THE LORD'S BODY" MEAN?

TEXT: 1 Corinthians 11:27-34.

Contrary to the opinion of some religious scholars that the bread and the wine, (which we take in remembrance of the Lord Jesus), are his real body (flesh) and blood, the unleavened bread represents his body while the fruit of the vine stands in place of
the blood. (Matt. 26:26-29).
However, the bread and the wine should not be taken anyhow if we truly recognize the importance of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary:

  •     He died that we may live.
  •     He suffered that we may not suffer.
  •     He became poor that we may be rich.

"... for the transgressions of my people, he was stricken"(Isaiah 53:8).
As the bread and the cup will be round once again in the assemblies of the saints today, examine yourself  and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
It will be better if you let servers return your own share of the bread and wine intact if you are yet to know how to discern the lord body. This is suggested because of:

  1.     The many is that are weak (v.30)
  2.     The many that are sick (v.30)
  3.    The many that have fallen asleep (v.30).
