Get to know the truth about the Scriptures. A roadmap to New Testament Christianity.

Different types of doctrine.

The Greek word ' _didache_ ' is the word used for doctrine in the New Testament and it means *that which is taught, precepts or instruction concerning something.*
In Matthew 16:12, Jesus warned his followers to beware of the doctrine(instruction) of the Pharisees and Sadducees. This is because *doctrine determines destiny*.

The Bible identifies *three major types of doctrines or teachings.*
1. Doctrine of men. Matt.15:7-9
2. Doctrine of devils or demons  1Timothy 4:1b (KJV)
3. Doctrine of Christ. 2John vs 9
Without mincing words, only the doctrine of Christ can give us eternal salvation and help man live a purposeful and balanced life physically, spiritually, socially and intellectually while on earth.
The doctrine of Christ can be found in the New Testament, not the Old.
The doctrine of Christ was committed to the apostles. Hence, it is also known as the apostles' doctrine. John 17:20-21; Ephesians 2:20-21

The type of doctrine you practice determines how you worship God, what you do in worship to him and the lifestyle choices you make.

Doctrine of men comes in various forms based on the thinking and behavioral tendencies of the men establishing them. It is the prevalent type of doctrine in the world today.

Apostle Paul warned that doctrine of devils is characterized by hypocritical lying, seared consciences, various food restrictions and forbidden marriage . 1Timothy 4:2-3.

Are you worshipping God and living according to Christ's commands as revealed in the New Testament?
Do you combine some elements of Judaism with Christianity in your worship?
Do you live based on what the human founder or pastor has said or based on what the revealed word of God says concerning you?
Prove all things and hold fast to the true doctrine. 1Thessalonians 5:21

Note the following:
1. Jesus declared that when human commandments are taught as doctrines, vain worship is usually the result. Mark 7:7.

2. There is a specified body of truth called the doctrine of Christ which all followers of Christ recorded in the Bible had to obey. Acts.2:42; Romans 6:17. Ephesians.2:20-22. John 17:20-21

3. Believers are warned to avoid doctrines contrary to that of Christ. Romans 16:17; Ephesians 4:14

4. In 1Timothy 1:3, Paul said 'As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightiest charge some that they *teach no other doctrine(emphasis mine).* This shows that only one doctrine is to be taught and practised.
