What is the reality of Sin?

TEXT: 1JOHN 5:19.

There are so many things out there that are true, you believe them or not they remain the same. These things are called Facts, Facts are "in fact" Facts, they are not influenced by your opinions, ideas, E.T.C. One of these Facts is the existence of SIN. Sin exists. It is a matter of Fact, a sober reality. Sin is not a dream, nor is it a figment of our imaginations but a positive, prevalent and absolute reality. Our text says it is present extant and a current certainty. As much as any other subjects with which the Bible deals.
But many people today do not give much thought to it. Someone once asked "What is sin?"
Many do not recognise it,sins like robbery, murder and fornication are not really considered. Little or no emphasis have been placed upon the consequences, where it leads and the dangers of it. it is sad but true that our generation is not very disturbed about the matter of sin. The human mind acts like it has been configured to sin not minding the consequences.

Sin transgression of the law, disobedience, rebellion, and every other act deemed to be breaking of the Law. Every country has a right to her own Sovereignty, i.e cannot be controlled from the outside by another country. Now these countries have laws and policies with which they control the citizens, when a citizen decides to go against these laws, he is said to have committed a crime; in biblical terms he has sinned. As we know for every crime committed there is an equal and corresponding.

A Promiscuos fellow will never understand what HIV/AIDS is until he/she gets infected. Reality of sin is knowing that committing sin is a fact of life, and that every sin committed is an offence according to God's law and for this reason no sinner will go unpunished. To really understand this we will look at two valid forms.
These forms are:

  • Consequences of wrong deeds.
  • The concept of Hell.

Consequences of wrong deeds:

When the Bible warns against certain conducts, it should not be taken with levity. Like the earlier cited example of the promiscuous fellow. The Bible warns against fornication and Adultery not because God actually benefits from your being pure but He is against it because it affects you spiritually and physically. Of a truth God needs you to be pure, but it is never because it has one thing or the other to add to his being God, God remains God in all situation. So when ever the Bible talks about purity it is as a matter of fact for your sake. Now every evil act we commit on earth find it's way back to us. Believe it or not. It's basically law of Karma 101, One way or the other nature pays back in our own coin. now you might wanna say "but i prayed to God about this, and i know i have been forgiven so i am free". Indeed God forgives but that does not mean you dont get paid in your own coin. David is a case study look at the book of -

The Concept of Hell:

Many will only realize how far they've gone into sin when they arrive this horrible place called Hell. The Bible says that this place burns with Fire and Brimstone. Smell of Burning Sulphur is enough to make you hate this place. As mortals we have to be very careful as just one sin can send us here. Truly this is the era of GRACE, but shall we continue to sin so that grace may abide, God forbid.Grace works with repentance i.e we must try our best to avoid sin for Grace to be effective. Hell is a real, an ever existing consequence of sin that exists in another realm of reality, one we will all move to at the end of days.

Sin is real and therefore has its consequences and they are beyond human imagination. Avoid sin and enjoy eternal life. click here for guidance.

Agape love: God's theory of love.

Text: John 15:12-13.
"This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as i have loved you. Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his love for his friend.
I can sense the power, passion, love of this portion of the scripture. The Scriptures as we know are inspired by GOD, now lets imagine how John must have felt when he received this message, i believe he felt the true Agape love that moment. Agape to me is God's principle of love, verse 13 of our text says "Greater love hath no man than this". Believe or not no greater love than than this of Agape. Before we delve deep into this topic lets find out for ourselves what Agape love really is about.
Agape love: God's theory of love

What is Agape love?

According to Wikipedia; Agape is a Greco-Christian term referring to love, "the highest form of love, charity" and "the love of God for man and man for God. Wow!, this love i tell you of knows no bound, knows no pain nor anger. This is the exact type of love Christ has for the Church and humanity as a whole. This is not to be confused for 'philia love'- brotherly love, as this has so many qualities 'philia' doesn't have. Let's see what the Bible has to say about Agape love: Ephesians 5:1-2
"... Be ye followers of God, as dear children; and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us and hath given himself for us an sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.
The above text reveals Agape love as sacrificial love. One being able to lay down ones life for another just as Christ has done for us-His children. Another example is: matthew 22:39
"... And the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
This is key in this theory of Agape because as christians we are advised to put others first before ourselves.

  • It does not boast.

Agape love does not boast i.e when one has this love in them, they become humble for without humility there is no love. pride brings about hate, disgust and so on. God in is love became man, lived among men, was hated by men (his own creation), even to the point of crucifixion. He lived the perfect example, he was humble.
Rom 5:8 says "...but God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners christ died for us."

  • It is kind, tolerant and patient.

Romans 2:1-4
verse 4 reads "...Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?"
His kindness leads us towards repentance. oh, what matchless love(Agape), in all our filth he looks at us and still feels love. This tells us to forgive those who have wronged us and also try our best to show love to our enemies.
Envy naturally invoke a hatred towards others of which paul writes the above text concerning our pre-conversion experience.

  • It does not envy.

People tend to be driven by envy.
Titus 3:3 reads "...we lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another..."
This was our former state of existence as Christ. we hated, we envied, we told lies, all this are against God's theory of Agape. we should yield forth good fruits as God's people.
2cor 5:15 reads "... he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again..."

  • Love of the Truth:

This is our last point for this post, there are hundreds of points out there on this topic, you can always look them up on the internet or you continue to www.wordsmadeflesh.com. Agape love is never diplomatic with the truth because it is always ready to correct with love. we earlier cited humility as a very important characteristic of Agape love, truth also is just as important as humility. Deceit brings about strife. Agape love dwells in truth of God's love.
1John 3:18 reads "...lets us not love(simply) with words or tongue but with actions and in truth..."
we have come to the end of this post for Agape love: Gods theory of love.

Team work: Dangers of pulling back.

Team work is important for the growth of any organization. Every operation requires a team, and every member of the team is as important as the other. The case of David and Uriah is a case study of such situation. David's lust cost Uriah his life. Let's visit the Bible for more information.
In the morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it with Uriah. In the letter he wrote, “Put Uriah in the front lines where the fighting is the fiercest. Then pull back and leave him exposed so that he’s sure to be killed.”

- 2 Samuel 11:14-15

Then pull back and leave him exposed...

1. Uriah did not die because he could not handle the intensity of the battle, but
2. Uriah died because of the negligence of those who were supposed to support him in the battle zone.

His fellow soldiers sold him out.
Those who were supposed to cover him, "exposed" him for the enemy to devour him.
 The paradox here is:
1. the true enemies of Uriah were not those he was fighting in the front, but
2. those he was expecting to protect him in the back.

We must understand that Uriah was :
a skillful, well trained, disciplined soldier.
He was one of the best in David's army.
But still he could not fight the battle alone, he needed a faithful team to back him up.
It's not that he was weak or inexperienced, the real issue here is not weakness the real issue here is negligence.
Strong soldiers have died in the field because of negligence,
Strong soldiers have been fatally wounded in the field because of indifference.*

When we shift back in a time of trouble and need, innocent and  faithful people die either:

  • Physically
  • Emotionally
  •  Spiritually

because of us.
When we pull back and expose our brethren, we become co-workers with the enemy and God is watching us. God will hold us accountable for neglecting our brothers and sisters in times of need.
Sometimes people leave the church because we pulled back in their times of need and thus they got exposed to the enemy.
Let's be careful not to neglect one another especially in times of need.
Be a true brother's and a true sister's keeper. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ._" Galatians 6:2

I am your Uriah and you are my Uriah, let's not pull back and expose one another.
I am strong when you have my back you are strong when  I have your back.
Otherwise on my own I'm vulnerable and so are we all as well.

It is my earnest desires and prayer that we all stay together as one family.

Be greatly blessed.. Shalom

Divorce: The Bible's Stand On Divorce.

Welcome, last time we looked at Dating a Christian? 5 things you need to know. Today we want to know more about the Bible's stand on divorce.

most families in the world today are victims of this great menace called divorce. It has separated families, destroyed lives and has changed destinies. But the bible In the book of Mal. 2:16  tells us that God hates divorce.
Malachi 2:16  For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.
To get a better understanding of verse 16 of chapter 2, let's take a look at verse 15 of the same Chapter 2.
Malachi 2:15  And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
Now back to verse 16, The clause PUTTING AWAY actually means divorce, separation in other versions and this is as a result of hatred, God hates HATRED automatically he hates the fruit of Hatred one of which is divorce.
I have been able to prove the fact that God hates divorce, but that doesn't mean he doesn't allow divorce. Before we look into this I'll want us to understand what divorce really is.

 What is Divorce.

Divorce is the legal dissolution of marriage by a court or other competent body.
This definition is also inline with God's word, most couples separate believing it is divorce. One major criteria for divorce is that it must be legal just as a marriage must also be legal I.e it must be bound by the law of the land. So when a partner leaves a relationship without making it legal, they are not divorced. let look at what the Bible has to say about this.
Deuteronomy 24:1 When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.

In the above text we see what the Hebrews referred to as Bill OF DIVORCEMENT.

Matthew 19:6-7  Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?

Here the New Testament refers that this same bill as a WRITING OF DIVORCEMENT. This bill/writing is what we call a certificate of Divorce today. Divorce has to be legal, now we see why I said most couples are separated and not divorced. Separated couples should try as much as possible to avoid sex during this period of separation else it will be considered as adultery.
I started by saying God hates divorce, but this doesn't mean he does not allow it on certain grounds and this leads us to the main point of this write-up. So even when we legally divorced the main question is are we biblically divorced.
This question must be asked because it concerns our spiritual life as God's children. What the world call divorce today may not be divorce( even if it is now legal) before God except on certain grounds.

Grounds on which divorce becomes legal before God.

  •  Unbelieving partner:

1 Corinthians 7:13-15  And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.
But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.

Eeeaaasssy and self explanatory.
A Christian marries an unbelieving partner - a non-christian, the Christian is not to leave the marriage because his\her presence alone in that family is significant. The unbelieving partner might repent as a result of the life style of the Christian partner, the Christian also gets the chance to preach the Gospel to their partner, and for this reasons and more the Christian is not to divorce the unbeliever. But if the unbeliever leaves the marriage, there and then they are divorced before God.

  •  sexual immorality:

Matthew 19:7-9  They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?
He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
This is self explanatory. I don't really have to dwell much on this. Cheating in a relationship destroys that relationship, and if a Christian couple decides to get divorce on this Ground it becomes legal before God. But if a Christian couple separates for any other reason aside this, then they  commit adultery with their new partners because they are yet to dissolve the initial marriage. So beware.

  •  Death:

1 Corinthians 7:39  The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
"...for better, for worse till death do us part..."
In this case it as simple as ABC. A Christian dies the partner is free to marry whoever she wants, but she is encouraged to do so in the lord for the sake of her faith. On this Ground the surviving partner is divorce because you cannot be in covenant with a dead person.

These Grounds are the scripturally acceptable grounds for divorce. Any act of divorce that happens outside the confines of the above points is not the Bible's stand on divorce.
